Payroll Technician
Great opportunity on our District administrative team!
Performs intermediate administrative work setting up and coordinating the District's master payroll files, schedules and records, preparing payroll and monitoring leaves, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Business Director.
Essential Functions
Coordinate and set-up the District's master payroll files, schedules and records; manage and enter pay adjustments, leaves, deductions and retroactive pay; calculate and verify extracurricular and coaching payments; calculate and verify deductions and benefit changes; coordinate contract provisions and collective bargaining agreements as it pertains to payroll processing.
Review and process employee timesheets, back-up and payroll documentation; review payroll coding; enter payroll data; calculate and verify wages; balance payroll reports to include W-2s, TRA and PERA; generate payroll.
Assist employees with questions regarding paychecks, deductions and leaves; maintain flexible benefit plan; maintain and verify absences; process and calculate garnishments and child support withholdings; verify employment status and unemployment claims.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of District policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of the School Crisis Planning Guide and related emergency documents (evacuation, lockdown, fire, weather); general knowledge of coaching contracts and attendance records; thorough knowledge of time sheets, payroll registers, work and collective bargaining agreements; thorough knowledge of standard office and specific (accounting) software applications; ability to make mathematical computations; ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages; ability to understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records; general knowledge of First Aid; ability to implement and model the "Code of Conduct"; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with co-workers, students, staff, parents and vendors.
Education and Experience
Associates/Technical degree with coursework in Business or Accounting, or related field and considerable experience in accounting or an administrative support setting, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
