American Axle & Manufacturing has openings for Senior Controls Engineers at it Technical Center in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Job duties include:
- Leading design, installation, and maintenance of large-scale electronic equipment and machinery for use in AAM’s manufacturing operations, and testing driveline and powertrain products.
- Designing and recommending control system architectures with complex applications using LabVIEW code and NI-PXI chassis, CompactRIO chassis , XNET CAN module, Analog I/O modules, Digital I/O modules, CANape or CANoe / CANalyzer Vector Tools for CAN Communication, and signal acquisition module for making high-accuracy sensor including Accelerometers; building data collection files
- Evaluating control systems that use E-Machine products in Real Time, motor controllers including servo controllers components, applications and new and emerging manufacturing and control technologies interfacing with USB/Serial devices, industrial automation protocols, including RS232, GPIB and VISA, Analog and Digital IO blocks, Sensors including Hall Effect, Rotary Encoders, Thermocouples and linear position sensors.
- Managing projects, reviewing specifications and requirements, confirming control systems functionality, including safety compliance, by designing, troubleshooting issues and executing test procedures.
- Preparing and reviewing electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls drawings; collaborating with engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
Position requires: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or Applied Physics, or a related field, or foreign equivalent education, and 3 years’ experience working in the Controls field. 3 years’ experience is required in each of the following:
- Working with National Instruments LabVIEW code development with Creation of Profiles and Vector Tools CANape or CANoe / CANalyzer to create automotive controls solutions
- Working with CompactRIO chassis, XNET CAN module, Analog I/O modules, Digital I/O modules, and signal acquisition module for making high-accuracy sensor including Accelerometers
- Working with NI-PXI chassis
- Working with E-Machines in Real Time and motor controller including servo controllers
- Working with industrial automation protocols including RS232, GPIB, and VISA
- Use of CAN Communication
- Working with USB/Serial devices, Analog and Digital IO blocks, Sensors including Hall Effect, Rotary Encoders, Thermocouples and linear position sensors.
Experience may be obtained concurrently.
