General Description: Provides leadership and vision to the Information Technology Services organization and is primarily responsible for the management and day-to-day oversight and security needs of the ITS department. In addition, the Executive Director is responsible for the daily review of activities, which includes IT risk mitigation, management information systems, personal computer services, telecommunications and video services, computer operations, systems and hardware acquisition and upgrades, and long-term systems strategies and consultation with unit managers regarding College priorities.
Duties:
• Reports to the Dean, Institutional Research, Planning & Effectiveness and Information Technology Services.
• Provides vision and leadership for the College's overall information technology strategies.
• Ensures alignment of the ITS operating and strategic goals with the College's overall mission and operating goals as well as divisional information technology plans.
• Prepares and maintains a periodic update outlining long-term strategies for ITS and technology across campus.
• Oversees the management of the ITS department main components, which include: Infrastructure, Applications, User Services, Help Desk function, Telecom, Media, and Security.
• Designs, develops and maintains a stable and standardized information technology infrastructure, including a comprehensive technology assets renewal and replacement program and administer all information technology infrastructure policies and protocols.
• Formulates and proposes annual operating and long-range budgets for ITS and ensure they are consistent with campus priorities as well as available staff and financial resources.
• Serves as the College's senior technology advisor; provide leadership and assistance, as necessary, in the development and implementation of new and existing information technology projects for academic and administrative units.
• Designs, develops and maintains the College's disaster recovery plan as it relates to technology to ensure that the documented process to recover and protect the systems infrastructure in the event of a disaster is in place and adequate.
• Maintains the College's Emergency Operations Plan (business continuity plan) as it relates to technology to ensure that following any incident the College will be able to return to "business as usual" as quickly as possible, with limited impact to campus.
• Ensures the design, development and maintenance of a comprehensive training program for faculty and staff on ITS related items, including security issue and threats.
• Works with all units of the College to tailor security approaches.
• Ensures the college's data remains secure by keeping up to date on the latest cyber security threats and implements ways to guard against them on an organization-wide scale.
• Reviews the security incidents and the College's response to evaluate and make improvements as needed.
• Provides leadership to ensure that security incidents are communicated properly, and procedures are in place to mitigate risks.
• Works towards making sustainable choices for operations whenever operationally and fiscally feasible.
• Leads the assessment efforts for all aspects of assigned areas.
• Collaborates with other academic leadership to ensure appropriate academic support for educational and satellite programs and services.
• Represents the college administration at community or college affairs as appropriate.
• Provides leadership in the development and implementation of college policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in related area.
• 8 - 10 years of experience in the Information Technology (preferably in higher education)
• Ten years of computer operations, server knowledge and/or experience; document management experience and knowledge of higher education administration systems and academic technology needs.
• Knowledge of at least one higher education relational ERP database system (preferably Ellucian's Colleague)
• Experience leading IT strategic initiatives in a college or university environment preferred.
• Knowledge of cyber security, technology and architecture, vendor partner management, contract review, and project management.
• Demonstrated experience in planning and monitoring budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse administrative, academic, student, and external populations.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to build consensus in a service-oriented environment.
• Excellent communication and technology skills.
Note: This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.
