Senior Database Analyst/Developer
JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for enterprise software systems that support College strategic priorities, enhance College operations, and improve student success. This work includes planning, analysis, programming, coordination, support, and maintenance of the Ellucian/Colleague (Datatel) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system including Portal/Student Planning/Student Finance, WebAdvisor, WebUI, and related applications and integrations. It reports to the Senior Manager, Enterprise Application Services.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides application administration, maintenance, and upgrading for Ellucian Colleague ERP system and any required technologies in support of the applications including patching, cloning, web front end management of Colleague Systems; Works with vendors to research issues and collaborates with other colleges and vendors to improve the overall service.
- Programs custom queries, reports, applications, and software solutions in UniData, envision, SQL, and visual studio.
- Implements new software systems for Database, ERP, or SIS and integrates to connected systems.
- Troubleshoots business process issues related to Colleague systems (ERP, SIS HR, Etc.)
- Monitors health and usage of Enterprise Software.
- Clones Colleague environments to refresh, test, and develop systems.
- Contributes to the development of system policies, standards, and procedures involving the use of enterprise software systems.
- Works with Data Governance Committee to ensure accurate data in the Colleague system by documenting data standards and shared data rules as well as developing and monitoring procedures to ensure database integrity.
- Researches, reviews and gives recommendations for software/applications/systems
- Leads the development and delivery of technical documentation and training that ensures users are prepared for successful use of software systems used in administrative or operational capacities.
- Manages information security standards as well as all governmental regulations impacting enterprise software or related operational processes.
- Serves as the UniData database administrator for the Colleague ERP including performance monitoring and tuning of database management system (DBMS).
- Works with college faculty and staff to evaluate, design, configure, test, and verify new and existing processes in the ERP and associated systems.
- Assists end-users with questions (help tickets) and problems regarding database applications.
- Attends appropriate vendor training sessions and user’s group meetings; continually improves knowledge about application software; serves as primary Ellucian/Colleague (Datatel) contact.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Associate’s degree with at least four years of related, professional-level experience in information technology; OR a Bachelor’s degree with two years of related experience.
- Aptitude for programming in high-level programming languages.
- Experience with Ellucian/Colleague (Datatel) and application administration, Microsoft Windows Server, Unidata Administration.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL, Office, SharePoint , report generators such as Business Objects, programming languages such as Envision, and Ellucian Student Planning and Student Finance preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office, meeting, and training rooms; use of safe work place practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing with highly technical applications/complex software and new technology systems including maintenance; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations; and observance of traffic signals when driving.
SALARY:
This position will be placed on the 12 month Grade 12 college salary scale. Actual salary placement based on qualifications and experience. Position includes an excellent fringe benefit package. In order to qualify for employment, candidates must successfully complete a criminal background check.
