Carroll Community College seeks a part-time Web/Learning Technology Technician.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting assigned departments with updating the College’s website and with Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) administration. Assist with supporting integrated applications including Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office 365, third-party plugins and services, and data from other external systems. Create how-to, instructional, and other videos using Adobe and other video products to be hosted in the college’s Kaltura video streaming platform to be displayed on LMS, MS Teams, college web sites, and portal. Assist in troubleshooting and documenting faculty, staff and student questions and technical issues related to the LMS, integrated systems, and web site. Assist with developing and implementing documentation and procedures and other content to support the web site, LMS and other online student learning resources. This position reports to the Manager, Web Technology.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as assistant to the Sr. Learning Technology Administrator, IT Web Administrators, and Online Learning Department. Assists IT Web and Online Learning teams with updating college’s web site and with Canvas LMS administration.
- Creates how-to, instructional, and other videos using Adobe and other video products to be hosted in the college’s Kaltura video streaming platform to be displayed on LMS, MS Teams, college web sites and portal. Provides training for faculty, staff, and employees for related systems.
- Responds to help desk questions pertaining to LMS and website, and troubleshoots issues independently.
- Provides training for faculty, staff, and employees for related systems
- Assists in developing and implementing documentation and procedures and other content to support web site, LMS and other online student learning resources
- Assists with operational reporting relating to LMS.
- Able to work with diverse people and create a safe and inclusive environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- One year of related experience
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Technical/Analytical skills – help-desk, troubleshooting, ability to use highly technical computer applications
- Availability to work part time hours as needed, not to exceed 29 hours per week
- Must be positive, cooperative and supportive
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This work is normally sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:
- Hear/talk/communicate – Must be able to exchange information and communicate
- Visual Acuity/ability to perceive or detect surroundings
- Mental acuity – Able to focus, concentrate, understand and convey subject matter
- Repetitive motion (i.e. keyboarding)
- Stand/sit/walk/able to move or traverse from one area to another
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
College campus, direct contact with students, staff, faculty and the general public in classrooms, common areas, offices, and campus environments. Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment; computers for data entry and word processing; avoidance of trips and falls; observance of fire and building safety regulations; and observance of traffic laws when/if driving a College vehicle.
