Description
Full-time faculty are responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. Faculty are responsible for performing assigned duties during the day or evening on any Chesapeake College campus (including online or dual-enrollment sites) as assigned. Program leadership (coordination / direction) responsibilities may be integrated into faculty positions. This position reports directly to the responsible Dean or Program Director.
Please note that this position is in the full-time faculty bargaining unit, which is represented by the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Maryland.
Examples of Duties
Teach a minimum of 15 credits per term, including lab-based courses in a variety of modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats)
- Skilled in using Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas or Blackboard.
- Experience creating diverse instructional content (written, slides, exams, hands-on projects).
Curriculum Development: Regularly update course content to align with evolving industry standards and technologies.
Support: Assist the program director with events, presentations, and other program support activities.
Qualifications
- Master’s in Information technology, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Data Science, or other related degrees.
- Preferred candidates have at least 3 years of higher education teaching experience in relevant fields, ideally at a community college.
- Familiarity with Cengage MindTap, Pearson MyLab, TestOut, and programming tools like Python.
- Preferred candidates should have industry certifications (e.g., A+, Network+, Security+, Cloud, Linux) in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or related fields.
Physical Requirements
- Most of the job is sedentary, however, occasional periods of light work may be required;
- Lifting up to approximately 35 lbs. occasionally.
- The worker may be exposed to primarily to inside office conditions.
- Visual acuity appropriate for an administrative position,
- Hearing, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching – occasionally,
- Climbing stairs – occasionally,
- Walking, frequently,
- Occasional travel may be required
