Youth Advocate

Summary:
Under direct supervision of the Social Services Director, will implement various projects aimed at eliminating crimes against children and teens (and some young adults on a case-by-case basis). Inparticular, focusing on dealing with forms of exploitation, forms of neglect, psychological abuse, physical abuse, and sexual abuse of vulnerable underage individuals within the Chugach Region. Ensure that youth victims of crime will be supported through reporting, and any needed court assistance to successful conclusions.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of high school graduate or G.E.D. required plus two years’ experience working with youth and/or juvenile justice and/or criminal justice system.
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree preferred.
- Experience with domestic violence service provision or administration.
- Familiarity with Alaska Native or Native American culture and customs.
- Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
Work Hours:
Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one hour for lunch.
