Graduate Engineer

Full-time position available with KCMO’s Public Works Department,

Public Inspections Division, 4721 Coal Mine Rd.

Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Oversees and manages daily operations of large capital projects, and engineering technician leads on large
projects for inspection coverage. Performs as senior construction inspector on several sidewalk replacement projects and ADA curb ramp reconstruction projects. Ensures construction work is completed according to
City standards and specifications and work areas are safe for the public.  Researches concrete/asphalt materials and field construction methods for implementation. Reviews materials/construction methods for adherence to current City standards and for possible changes. Assists in the construction management of Capital/Neighborhood projects, including drainage considerations, street reconstructions, and bridge projects.
Communicates with the general public, construction inspectors, contractors, and public officials. Provides input to 3-1-1 requests. Performs snow removal on a residential snow route during winter months.

REQUIRES an ABET accredited Bachelor's degree in any professionally recognized architectural/engineering
discipline as required by the hiring authority. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City. Preference given for a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. December 2021 and May 2022 graduates conditionally accepted.

Salary Range: $3,957-$6,769/month.
