Maintenance Mechanic Senior
MD Department of Juvenile Services seeks a Maintenance Mechanic Senior at the Waxter Children’s Center.
The main purpose of this position is to perform general maintenance tasks such as simple construction, repairs to roadways and walks, routine preventative maintenance, heavy janitorial and general services work. Although the bulk of the employee's work is spent in actual performance of maintenance and repair tasks, on occasion the employee may serve as the lead worker. The employee assigns work, examines completed work and provides immediate guidance and assistance to at team of unskilled or semi-skilled employees such as Maintenance Mechanics or Janitorial employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Eighth grade.
Experience: Four years of experience in any combination of the maintenance trades, three years must be in the trades of electricity, plumbing, steam fitting, refrigeration or air conditioning.
Notes:
- Candidates may substitute additional experience in any of the maintenance trades on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of the required education.
- Candidates may substitute the possession of a degree from an accredited vocational or technical high school with a major in Building Maintenance or a related field for up to three years of the required general experience.
- Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in utilities repair classifications or construction and engineering specialty codes in any combination of maintenance trades, on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a High School Diploma or GED
- Possession of a Trade Certificate in the trades of electricity, plumbing, HVAC, painting, carpentry, or ground maintenance.
