Corrosion Technicians: CP-1, CP-2 and/or CIP Certification

Responsibilities:
The Corrosion Technician will work with experienced engineers and specialists on projects and develop the skills needed to manage engineering tasks and projects while in the field. Additionally, you will multitask in a fast paced environment with limited supervision. Mentoring is provided to help technicians quickly learn and master new skills. More senior technicians will provide guidance and direction to junior technicians. Note that you will be encouraged and required to maintain industry certifications (company sponsored) to further their development within the organization.
- Reviews project proposal and deliverables with Project Manager (PM).
- Maintains good communication with technicians and contractors to assure timely and efficient completion of jobs, proper communication of issues, and proper documentation of the entire process at each job site.
- Under the guidance of the PM, work to ensure all schedules run smoothly, all jobs are completed as prescribed, and all invoicing is processed in a timely fashion.
- Plan, arrange and monitor all shipping arrangements through to fulfillment.
- Work with PM to arrange contractors, permits, union help, and other special arrangements as needed.
- Work with PM to maintain billing, scope, materials, and other job templates.
- Source and manage contractors for specific sites and projects. This includes, locating, assigning work orders, sending scope and monitoring performance to assure successful completion and proper billing.
- Performs limited CADD/drafting operations.
- Develops and drafts engineering drawings and plans, drafts contract documents and generates correspondence for clients and managers.
- Maintains dynamic communication with contractors, clients, engineers and the general public for any architectural, engineering or construction issues.
- Performs fieldwork, documentation, research and drafting tasks of engineering data as requested by clients or managers.
- Performs regular computer software and maintenance, upgrading and troubleshooting.
- Maintains up to date working and technical knowledge of all procedural and improvement changes to computer hardware and software applications.
- Carrying out coordination activities to install and locate equipment used in construction like amplifiers, cables etc.
- Inspecting the construction site in order to ensure quality control
- Communicating with the construction project manager regarding concerns that affect the progress of a construction project and ensure that project deadlines are met.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Preferred 2- or 4-year technical or science degree from accredited university
- Minimum NACE CP-1 required for Corrosion Technician I.
- Excellent technical skills in one or more of the following areas
- Cathodic Protection Design
- External Corrosion Pipeline Surveys
- Materials Engineering (familiarity with carbon steels is a plus)
- Non Destructive Testing or a related area.
- Good writing skills.
- Experience or familiarity with transmission pipelines or pressure vessel technologies is a plus.
- Performs own work and provides assistance to others as directed.
- Must be physically able to perform all duties required which may involve among other things: walking over uneven terrain, bending, moving from ground level to higher levels, raising/lifting from ground level a load up to 50 lbs., manually transporting a load up to 75 lbs., applying up to 100 foot pounds of torque.
- Works indoors and outdoors, gets in and out of vehicles, works around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment
- Requires moving about equipment and working in confined areas
- Works in temperature extremes to the extent of weather conditions and operating equipment
- Occasionally must wear special safety equipment while working.
- Comply with all company, state and federal regulations such as the DOT Pipeline Qualification Rule
