We are seeking a Legal Assistant to assist attorneys and clients in our Anchorage office. This is a full-time assignment. Please include your resume and cover letter with the application.
Responsibilities include an understanding and/or experience with the following:
• Proactively monitor overview of case development; anticipate next steps and implement follow-up measures to ensure tasks are timely completed
• Coordinate with Docketing and confirm attorney calendars to ensure accuracy of dates, and compliance with court deadline procedures
• Create, edit, revise, redline, and/or proofread correspondence and legal documents from dictation, written and/or electronic copy
• File paper and electronic documents with appropriate courts and agencies; ensure proper filing procedures are followed and deadlines are met
• Manage, organize, and maintain client information and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation received by mail or electronically promptly and accurately
• Gather relevant information from a variety of sources
• Track and enter client related activity time per firm and client guidelines
• Provide general administrative assistance:
o Communicate with and organize client, witness and expert meetings, interviews,and depositions
o Receive clients and visitors
o Answer, screen, route and initiate telephone calls, transcribe voicemail and/or take accurate messages
o Support review and editing of client bills
o Make travel arrangements
o Prepare check requests, expense reports, trust documents o Submit conflicts checks and new business intake form
o Prepare engagement letter o Open and close files
o Operate standard office equipment to perform copying, scanning and faxing
o Work closely with others in internal administrative teams
Minimum Requirements:
o High school diploma or equivalent
o Relevant law firm experience preferred
o Experience with Microsoft Off1ce suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
o Observe confidentiality of the attorney-client relationship
o Maintain good relations with clients
o Ability to accurately type 60 wpm
o Strong command of the English language including spelling, grammar and punctuation
o Strong interpersonal, relationship-building and communication skills
o Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
o Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures
o Ability to manage multiple assignments, often changing tasks on short notice,and keep deadlines
Hours I Schedule I Location:
o 37.5 hours per week I Monday through Friday 8:30AM - 5:00PM I Anchorage Office;Overtime may be required during periods of high demand
o This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires regular and predictable attendance
o Infrequent travel may be required for cross-office projects (all travel is currently on hold due to COVID-19)
o This position reports directly to the Anchorage Office Manager
o This position is on-site and remote work is not available at this time
