THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT LOYOLA UNIVERSITY MARYLAND invites applications for a one-year, half-time visiting assistant professor position in the area of psychological assessment, to begin in August 2020.
The person hired for this position will be expected to teach 4 courses per academic year (2 each semester), primarily at the graduate level, in the areas of cognitive, intellectual and objective personality assessment.
Specifically, candidates will be expected to teach Assessment and Appraisal, and Cognitive Assessment. Ability to teach Objective Personality Assessment is preferred but not required.
The successful candidate must hold dedicated office hours.
Service obligations (e.g., committee assignments) and research productivity are not required for this position.
The ideal candidate will possess:
(1) an earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, with subject matter expertise in the area of psychological assessment (ABD candidates will be considered);
(2) the ability to teach graduate courses in the following areas: assessment and appraisal, cognitive/intellectual assessment, and (optionally) objective personality assessment;
(3) prior teaching experience and evidence of teaching effectiveness, ideally in at least one of the aforementioned content areas;
(4) the ability to create a sense of inclusion and belonging in the classroom, and to infuse multicultural content into course material as appropriate;
(5) strong commitment to excellence in teaching, including an appreciation of or engagement in high-impact teaching practices;
