Work that Matters. Work that Matters. The Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is a national leader in the financing and development of affordable housing and community development lending.
Our team needs a strong manager with an accounting and financial management background and analytical skills to manage complex loan servicing, grant accounting, insurance fund accounting and general accounting matters, lead multiple teams of finance and accounting professionals, oversee monthly reconciliation and closeout process, produce program level and fund level financial reports for both internal management as well as the interface into the State accounting system managed by the Comptroller’s office. The characteristics of the chosen candidate would be a leader who will work as a team, who can and will challenge the status quo, effectively communicate ideas and issues, independently implement practical and efficient solutions, believe change is good and want to come to work knowing that what they do makes a difference. The Director of Finance and Accounting must be able to communicate with and motivate staff, be well versed in using software analytical functions, i.e. Excel, loan servicing systems, advise senior management and oversee implementation of new and enhancement of existing software systems and solutions, effectively communicate with the senior management team at DHCD and with the Maryland Comptroller’s Office. This position trains accounting and financial management staff, works closely with the procurement team on vendor management and transactional processing, interfaces with multiple divisions at DHCD on processing numerous state-funded and federally funded programs and operating expenditures
