RECRUITMENT NOTICE
Position: Legislative Supervisor, Budget Function
Salary: $54,000 - $89,000, commensurate with experience
Principal Duties:
The Legislative Supervisor in the Budget Function serves as the administrative coordinator for the production and the workflow of the Budget Function; proofs, edits, and distributes complex and detailed correspondence, presentation documents, and reports; and maintains a familiarity with the necessary systems and applications.
Additionally, the Legislative Supervisor:
- plans, schedules, and approves work assignments for support staff, and provides back-up as needed;
- monitors employee performance to ensure quantity and quality of output;
- informs staff of internal activities and office policies when appropriate;
- recruits support staff; and
- maintains the knowledge necessary for the efficient management of office functions.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of general clerical or administrative support experience; college background preferred
- Mastery in using and manipulating (formatting specifically) Excel, PowerPoint, and word processing and software applications
- Strong knowledge of grammar
- Working knowledge of the legislative process and the structure of the government and statutory law of the State
- Strong knowledge of the departmental formats and styles as well as unique departmental software
- Ability to set priorities, plan, and organize
- Demonstrate strong communication and problem solving skills as well as excellent customer service skills
- Ability to perform accurate work in a timely manner and coordinate multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently, in teams, and sometimes under extreme time pressures
- Availability for extended work hours, including late night and weekend work, during the 90-day legislative session (January-April). Standard office hours during the legislative interim (May‑December).
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
