The Maryland Office of People’s Counsel (MD OPC) is looking for an energetic, creative attorney with a strong interest in advocacy and corporate accountability to round out its team of talented and committed lawyers and advocates.
MD OPC is an independent state agency that represents the interests of residential utility consumers before the Maryland Public Service Commission, federal agencies, and the appellate courts. The Assistant People’s Counsel will advocate on a variety of utility regulatory matters regarding prices, environmental policies, new technologies and services, corporate structure and accountability, among others.
Qualifications: The candidate should have a minimum of three years of litigation experience and excellent analytical, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Consumer protection and administrative litigation experience is a plus. Background in or familiarity with utility regulation, economics, engineering, or accounting will enhance the application. Admission to the Maryland Bar will be required.
