Salary Range: $63,000 - $95,658
Starting salary is determined based upon factors that may include: years of relevant experience, education, applicable certifications/licensure, and internal equity.
Position Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a strategic partner for various departments across Mercy Iowa City aligning the organizational mission and values with business objectives. The HRBP serves as a consultant and advisor on human resources functions for leadership and a key resource for colleagues. This role establishes positive relationships across the organization to deliver value-added support while ensuring consistent application and compliance of HR related policies and best practices.
Job Duties
- Consults and advises with leaders on Human Resources related policies, procedures, and best practices. Advocates for fair and consistent workplace practices in support of Mercy Iowa City’s mission and values.
- Builds credibility and creates strong collaborative relationships with the HR team and all departments so that colleagues and leaders feel supported.
- Meets regularly with leaders to develop solutions and create Human Resources programs to enhance colleague effectiveness, retention, and engagement.
- Leads mediating, coaching, and counseling colleagues to proactively prevent and resolve issues. Partners with leadership on performance issues by conducting thorough and equitable investigations and facilitating resolution processes for colleagues.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Develops, revises, and executes policies to ensure consistency in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
- Strategizes with leaders on staffing models to correspond with business priorities. Partners with HR team to identify, select, develop, and retain talent.
- Analyzes HR and payroll data and metrics to develop strategies, solutions, programs, and best practices.
- Monitors and evaluates HR related records and systems to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, federal, state, and local requirements.
- Assists with the administration and completion of performance evaluations; develops colleague competencies, job duties, and qualifications and ensures job descriptions are compliance with The Joint Commission.
- Administers leave management and workplace accommodation processes in support of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Partners with HR team and compliance officer on Workers’ Compensation claims, Environment of Care Safety Committee, and proactively maintains a safe and productive work environment.
- Embraces and commits to leading and guiding others in creating a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Recommends, develops, and delivers HR related training programs and initiatives.
- Stays up to date in the field of HR by attending professional meetings, conferences, networking, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
- 5 years of professional human resources experience with knowledge of multiple HR disciplines.
- Ability to establish robust relationships to create alignment and influence others to achieve results.
- Advanced knowledge of federal and state HR laws and regulations.
- Strong experience with HR Information Systems (Kronos, Workday, Peoplesoft, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to interpret HR related data and metrics.
- Advanced written and oral communication skills.
- Human Resources related professional certification desirable, but not required.
