DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
The Resource Recovery Center Engineer & Project Manager, under the general direction of the Resource Recovery Center Director, coordinates, plans, implements and supervises engineering functions for the Resource Recovery Center. This employee plans and coordinates improvements to the assets and infrastructure of the Resource Recovery Center water resource recovery facility and collection system. A person in this class acts as a project manager for the Resource Recovery Center's construction and environmental engineering projects. A person in this class advises the divisions within the Resource Recovery Center concerning the management and maintenance of assets and implementation of asset management/maintenance software. This employee assists the Director in the general administration of the Department and assumes responsibility for departmental operations during any absence of the Director.
REQUIRED MINIMUM ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college in Civil Engineering or closely related field;
2. Possess a current Professional Engineer license;
3. Have 6 years' experience as a Professional Engineer in the full-time practice of civil engineering or closely related field.
4. Possess a valid Michigan Driver's License, OR if license is issued by a state other than Michigan, must be able to obtain a Michigan Driver's License within 60 days of employment.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS / WORK LOCATION:
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee in this class performs generally sedentary work activity requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less and also performs some outdoor inspection, investigation, and project oversight.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
An employee in this class generally works within the administrative offices of the Muskegon County Resource Recovery Center, although travel covering the complete extent of the water resource recovery facility and its collection system may be necessary in the discharge of duties, as well as travel throughout Muskegon County and to other County and State locations.

EVALUATION CONTENT
The selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

PURPOSE
The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
