Senior Project Manager - NUAIR Alliance

Overview: This experienced Project Manager is the direct interface between the project team and key clients for complex and strategically important projects to drive the safe integration of Uncrewed Aerial Systems (UAS) into the National Airspace System. The expectation of this role is the ability to quickly assess customer needs, develop an executable project plan, staff the program appropriately, and execute the program meeting all objectives of the project within cost and schedule constraints resulting in high customer satisfaction. This individual is expected to operate at a high level of competence with minimal supervision. Projects under this person will be actively managed to anticipate issues through robust risk management techniques and effective contingency planning. This person is expected to identify problems and their root cause early and address them before they develop in major issues.
The successful candidate will work directly with clients to ensure the project plan meets all contractual requirements and negotiate customer items which are outside of the contractual scope. This individual will also work with business development to understand and influence the future capabilities and partnerships necessary to achieve continued organizational growth and profitability. They will support the development of proposed project plans and cost estimates, including manpower requirements, and negotiate with internal stakeholders to assure that all necessary costs are identified to support project requirements and meets competitive goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, obtain, and direct all necessary internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of multiple projects
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Develop a detailed project plan with the team and facilitate/drive the team to execute to the plan
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques and collaborate with the customer to make equitable adjustments to the program plan and cost and schedule requirements
- Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques and track execution trends to identify areas of potential improvement
- Report and escalate challenges to management in a timely fashion along with proposed solutions to critical issues
- Manage the relationship with the client and relevant stakeholders
- Perform risk management to mitigate potentially impactful risks
- Establish and maintain relationships with key internal resources and third parties/vendors
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project
- Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members' individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels
- Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
- Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis
- Identify ways in which scope can be expanded and new opportunities developed and work with the customer and business development to implement capture plans to bring in additional work.
- Use and continually develop leadership skills
Key Characteristics:
- 5 – 10 years of proven success leading complex projects with a variety of customer types
- Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of aviation and traffic management including uncrewed aviation sector strongly desired
- Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
- Ability to develop and communicate structured approaches to ambiguous requirements
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Bachelor Degree in related field of study or equivalent work experience
- Experience with project management software tools
