HVAC I, II, III
Perform the full range of duties associated with installation, maintenance, and repair of ventilation, air conditioning and environmental control systems. Complex jobs will be reviewed with the supervisor to determine appropriate procedures and to assure that proper work methods are being followed. Employees receive work orders indicating the nature of the work to be done. They are expected to determine the materials, tools, and repair procedures needed. Limited supervision is given to this employee.
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years college preferred HVAC courses.
- Valid current Class "C" Texas driver’s license.
- EPA Universal license Certified to handle CFC’s under 40CFR, Part 82, sub part F or willing to secure within the 1st year of hiring.
- Preferred Stationary Building Engineer License or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment.
- Prefer HVAC license or electrical maintenance license with City of Houston or state; a positive asset but not a requirement.
Custodial
Follow routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds. Perform custodial work such as sweeping, mopping, polishing floors, remove trash, cleaning of furniture and perform minor maintenance repairs.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Custodial experience preferred but not required.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to speak and read Basic English. Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance and safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively with school administrators, students, staff, contractors, vendors and community.
- Clean and neat appearance.
- Ability to complete custodial work, such as, mopping, buffing, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), moving furniture, etc.
- Ability to work on eight (8) foot ladder.
- Ability to operate custodial and related equipment.
Grounds Worker (Athletic Department)
Responsible for maintaining the grounds of all facilities in a pleasing and professional manner, conducive to a better educational environment.
Education/License:
- Minimum ninth (9) grade education or equivalent preferred.
- Valid current Class “C” Texas driver’s license.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work well with peers and managers.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain grounds equipment.
- Work well in a crew environment.
- Ability to perform extensive physical and repetitive activities, including but not limited to pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, carrying and the regular lifting of 105 pounds.
Experience:
Minimum one (1) year experience operating grounds equipment and large mowers preferred.
Integrated Pest Management Technician
Use a multi-tactical approach to preventing pest problems in district buildings/property. The Licensed Applicator will incorporate integrated pest management procedures into the maintenance program conducted by our District for control of indoor and outdoor pest problems primarily in and around the school kitchens.
Education/License:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Texas driver’s license.
- Valid certification as a commercial or non-commercial applicator granted by the Texas Department of Agriculture Structural Pest Control Board (TSPCB) with the following categories: lawn and ornamental, weeds, and indoor pest control.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of school IPM laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of implementing a kitchen-monitoring program.
- Knowledge of methods and materials for pest control and TSPCB regulations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in Spanish, preferred.
- Ability to operate pesticide application equipment.
- Ability to utilize the computer to update and close work orders and other work related electronic communication in English.
Experience:
Three (3) years as a TDA applicator within a state or federal IPM program preferred.
