Instructional Designer
Job Purpose
Towson University is currently accepting applications for an Instructional Designer to design and develop online learning experiences for nursing students. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. The Instructional Designer will work alongside nursing faculty to coordinate the conversion of existing face-to-face nursing courses into an online format.
Description
Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances student success and retention in the online environment. Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience's needs. Create content that aligns with course and program objectives. Select criteria used to judge learner's performance and develop assessment instruments. Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc). Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods. Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or similar. Two years working experience in instructional design and with instructional technology. Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models. Lesson and curriculum planning skills. Basic HTML and Flash programming knowledge. Solid knowledge of course development software and at least one Learning Management System, including Blackboard. Visual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard. Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.
Preferred:
Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology or similar. Quality Matters Peer Review Certification.
A Criminal Background Investigation is required for the hired candidate and the results may impact employment.
Salary and Benefits
Competitive salary and a contract that offers annual leave, holidays, sick days. Contractual employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
