Broad Scope and Function |
This position is responsible for providing dedicated day-to-day interviewing, data entry, and quality assurance support for the large cohort phase of data collection. This will include statewide travel to licensed cannabis dispensaries throughout California. Interviewers will be responsible for coordination of the interviewing process with dispensary personnel, potential participants and PHSRP staff. They will be responsible for recruitment and survey administration with qualified respondents, providing daily reports to the C3 Project Coordinator, monitoring quotas, data entry, and data quality assurance and following all study protocols for data collection and incentive disbursement. |
Reporting Relationship |
The position reports directly to and receives general supervision from the Director of the Public Health Survey Research Program and receives lead work direction and daily oversight from the C3 Project Coordinator. |
Conditions of Employment |
This is a full-time, temporary up to June 30, 2020 (may be extended) non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay), benefited position with a defined contribution retirement plan through TIAA. (The position is not covered under the California Public Employees’ Retirement System.) Continued employment in this position is dependent upon funding and the mutual consent of University Enterprises and the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee, can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Program continuation is contingent upon funding. |

Minimum Qualifications |
1. Demonstrated experience effectively and efficiently communicating and working with all levels of employees and/or customers in-person, in writing, and by phone while maintaining a professional demeanor and exercising tact and good judgment. 2. Demonstrated experience with maintaining data security, data entry and/or data quality assurance according to protocols. Must have impeccable attention to detail. 3. Demonstrated experience using computer applications including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases such as the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite. 4. Demonstrated ability to work independently as a project member. Demonstrated experience completing projects accordingly and following established procedures. 5. Demonstrated skills in modern office methods, procedures, and practices including word processing, telephone, and personal computer skills. 6. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally and in writing. Excellent command of the English language including grammar, spelling, and punctuation. 7. Available to work a flexible schedule including variable daytime/afternoon/early evening shifts on weekdays and some weekends. 8. Available to travel throughout California for up to a week at a time. 9. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive materials. 10. Ability to maintain an inventory of supplies needed for the project such as laptops, phones and gift cards. 11. Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations. 12. Must pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting. Must continue to meet the established standards. 13. Must be legally eligible to drive in California, complete and pass and online training course, maintain a good driving record, and be acceptable for vehicle insurance coverage under the University Enterprises insurance plan. Must continue to meet the established driving standards, driving record will be monitored with the California Department of Motor Vehicles to ensure compliance. Must be legally eligible to drive rental car. |
Preferred Qualifications |
1. Bilingual in Spanish. 2. Demonstrated research experience, including: experience in telephone, online or in-person data collection; experience in recruiting and tracking participants for research projects. 3. Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences or a related field or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. 4. Demonstrated experience in an educational or academic environment. |
Physical Requirements |
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computers, telephones and smartphones, calculators, copiers, printers, scanners, fax machines, tablet devices, and ability to lift or move boxes weighing up to 25 pounds. Frequent travel throughout all of California. |
Working Conditions |
Work is performed in a car driving to pre-assigned locations in California, in an office environment, as well as at dispensary storefront locations and other public locations throughout California; continuous contact with staff, students, campus community, the general public, cannabis dispensary personnel, cannabis organizations and event coordinators. |
