Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
To provide administrative support to the multi-level administrator: Dean, AGNR; Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station (AES); and Director of University of Maryland Extension (UME), as well as to the Assistant to the Dean. The Dean/Director oversees a budget of $54.1M (state and federal funds) and approximately 742 FTEs. The position requires extensive skills and knowledge for working with the three diverse components of the college: Instruction, Research and Extension and the many internal and external constituents by serving as one of the resource persons for the unit, representatives of the Dean/Director, and as a liaison between the Dean/Director and his senior and junior staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Management or other related field.

Experience:
Five (5) years administrative experience demonstrating broad and diverse organizational and administrative assignments.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to independently organize, prioritize, delegate, and handle complex administrative and clerical duties. 
  • Broad administrative skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Basic research methodology. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Gmail Suite. 
  • Application of principles of office management; strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as writing skills for composing and editing routine and complex correspondence/reports. 
  • A demonstrated ability to navigate sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism. 
  • Ability to work with a diverse audience. 
  • Ability to prioritize many and constantly changing assignments, and organize time and work for optimum efficiency.

Position involves good deal of sitting at a computer for extended periods of time throughout the day. May require the lifting of boxes, moving of items for events not exceeding 20 pounds.
