Position Description: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance, assist faculty with searches for funding opportunities; preparation of proposals submissions; implementing budget and spending projections in post-award; monitoring all aspects of the grant administration process from inception to close-out for federal, state, foundation, private corporation, and fellowship accounts through award closeout. Position’s incumbent will prepare special reports and resolve issues relating to sponsored accounts which include grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements while making sure departmental sponsored awards are audit-ready by adhering to grant policy and compliance guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
BA required, preferably in finance, business administration or accounting. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in post-award research administration preferably in higher education. Experience developing budgets and working on a deadline. Working knowledge of Uniform Guidance, e-submission, GAAP and forecasting. Familiarity with electronic grant submission systems (Fastlane, Grants.gov). Preferences: Experience with USG funding policies and procedures such as NIH and NSF. Familiarity with the State of MD and UMD policies and procedures. Knowledge of (shadow) accounting systems such as Excel & Priority Software.
