The AV Programming Specialist works within the Academic Technology Design and Solutions team to drive learning innovations through institution-wide initiatives. S/he will work closely with Classroom Technology staff responsible for classroom design and deployment of technologies to program and deploy AV systems in General Purpose Classrooms. The AV Programming Specialist will review requirements and assist with the design of classroom AV systems, perform tests and pilots of viable technologies, troubleshoot existing AV programs to restore system functionality. The specialist will also be required to program Crestron control processors, touch panels, routers, audio DSPs (Crestron and others) and other peripherals to support instructional technology classrooms.

We are looking for a passionate, highly creative individual who has great programming skills. The AV Programming Specialist will work under the general supervision of the Manager of AV Systems and Classroom Support and will be a member of the Office of Academic Technology & Innovation at the Division of Information Technology.
 
Minimum qualifications
Education, Experience & Training

Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education/training and experience such as an Electrical Engineer, Software Engineer, Network Engineer or related technical field, including successful completion of Crestron programmer training; and 5 years’ full-time experience programming Crestron Processors and Devices and audio DSPs.

● Strong strategic thinker who can communicate innovative ideas and concepts to many audiences. Good English-language written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to interact with all levels of employees.

● Strong organizational skills to effectively complete multiple projects with tight deadlines.

● Certified Crestron Programmer
● Extremely well versed in classroom design methodologies
● High level of energy, drive, enthusiasm, initiative, creativity and commitment. Ability to work in a busy environment with multiple project timelines and on own initiative, be self-motivated and flexible.
● Committed to customer satisfaction: exceptional skills in collaboration, consultation, communication, customer support, data analysis, and time management.

Physical demands:  Must be able to operate test equipment, machinery and AV equipment; use power tools; lift heavy loads up to 50 lbs.; work at heights using ladders and scaffolding; and drive a motor vehicle. May be required to work outside of normally scheduled working hours when needed (i.e. early mornings, late evenings, weekends).
