Probation Officer – The United States Probation Office in Syracuse, New York is accepting applications for the position of U.S. Probation Officer. Present workload of a Probation Officer includes supervision of probationers, supervised releases, parolees, military parolees, pretrial releases and pretrial diversion cases and the preparation of pretrial and presentence investigations and other types of investigations for the Court. Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university in a field of academic study, such as criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, human relations, or business or public administration. Must have the ability to interact and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must be mature, responsible, organized, and demonstrate sound ethics and judgment. Prior to appointment, selectee must undergo a medical examination and drug screening. Employment subject to successful completion of a security background investigation. First-time appointees to federal law enforcement must not have reached their 37th birthday at the time of appointment.
