Reporting directly to Western Digital’s Sr. Director of Executive Compensation, this role is responsible for supporting the research and analytics necessary to prepare materials to be presented to the Compensation Committee of the Board. In addition to supporting the compensation work for the executive team, this role will also support the research, design, approval and reporting on our Long-Term Incentive (LTI) plan where we provide equity-based compensation as part of our annual LTI award allocation process for equity-eligible employees.
This role will also assist our Strategic HR Business Partners & HR Delivery teams with executive job evaluations, market pricing and guidance to support the development of competitive pay packages to attract, retain and motivate top talent for executive level positions.
Additionally, this role will also collaborate with the Global Compensation Team to provide ongoing support for our broader annual compensation review process and our ongoing efforts to collect market intelligence and competitive compensation data for our employees globally.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the research and development of presentation materials for Compensation Committee meetings.
- Partner with external Compensation Consultants to ensure timely delivery of research and analysis for the Compensation Committee materials.
- Exhibit extensive awareness and knowledge of executive compensation topics, including current and future trends, ongoing legislation affecting executive compensation, and monitoring applicable SEC, accounting and tax regulations to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
- Conduct ad-hoc compensation analyses and research projects. Identifies and seeks multiple data points to evaluate and assess effectiveness of executive compensation programs. Evaluate executive positions and develop appropriate compensation recommendations.
- Exhibit strong familiarity with tax rules and financial regulations relevant to executive compensation.
- Assist with the research and source materials required for the completion of the CD&A, proxy materials, 10-K, footnote disclosures and other ad-hoc reporting and disclosure requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional collaboration partners, including Legal, Stock Plan Administration, Tax, Accounting, Finance and Payroll.
- Partner closely with Strategic HR Business partners to enter executive compensation actions in Workday/Payroll and ensure accuracy/timeliness of processing pay changes.
- Support a broad array of programs that involve communication, implementation and administration of our annual compensation process and programs in support of Western Digital’s business strategy.
- Build consultative and collaborate relationships with HR Business Partners, HR Delivery, Talent Acquisition and Leadership on various executive compensation related matters.
- Support the CEO & CHRO on reporting and planning for the annual compensation process to include merit and promotional salary review, short term incentive payout and long-term incentive award allocation for the Executive Leadership Team.
- Utilize and maintain our online salary survey management tool to effectively support the review and maintenance of the competitive compensation market data for our Executive positions.
- Participate in Executive Compensation market pricing and survey events to update and maintain our market data set and trends for Executive positions.
- Remain current on our employment and compensation policies, practices and programs; and stay informed of new (and pending) laws and regulations that impact these programs.
- Act as internal consultant/advisor and make recommendations to Managers, HR Business Partners, HR Delivery and Talent Acquisition on various Executive Compensation matters; and where appropriate, interpret local, state, and federal laws regulating compensation practices.
- Support the development of communication materials to effectively educate and inform around our Executive Compensation related training and education materials.
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources or a quantitative field.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience as an Executive Compensation Analyst, preferably in a global technology organization. CCP or CECP preferred.
- 5 to 8 years’ experience combined in either Human Resources or the Finance organization.
SKILLS:
- Experience with ISS Compass modelling tools.
- Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal skills in order to effectively communicate policies and procedures to all levels of staff and management.
- Advanced analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Advanced knowledge of compensation fundamentals and program design strategies.
- Able to handle high level of confidentiality regarding workforce and organizational changes.
- Excellent planning, time management, communication, decision making, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills.
